Anelka rules out return to French club football
PARIS (Reuters) - Manchester City striker Nicolas Anelka has ruled out returning to play at club level in France but left the door open for a return to the national team at some piont in the future. "No. It's impossible (to return to France)," he said on his website. "When I came back the last time I saw what sort of a welcome I had. My experience with Paris St Germain did not motivate me to return." At odds with then PSG coach Luis Fernandez, who had brought him back from Real Madrid, Anelka moved to England to play for Liverpool and then Manchester City. "It was hard to live especially as I had returned to play for my home crowd, for my childhood club. No I don't think I will ever return," he said. Anelka accused Fernandez of parting company with young promising players like himself, Peter Luccin and Stephane Dalmat in favour players closer to him. "Luis destroyed everything to take his own players and it ended up in disaster," Anelka said of the manager who left the Paris club at the end of last season. Since moving back to England, where he played for Arsenal before his move to Spain, Anelka has turned down call-ups to play for France after a row with manager Jacques Santini. But he now does not rule out one day making a comeback on the international stage. "Everything's possible," he said. "Why not? The door is not closed but it's not going to happen just now. "I know the French crowd and it's not easy not to feel supported. That's the big difference with English crowds, they cheer you whatever happens."
