Vincent, Richardson punish India
MOHALI, India (Reuters) - Lou Vincent struck a career-best 106 and Mark Richardson an unbeaten 102 as New Zealand piled up 247 for one on the first day of the second and final test against India on Thursday. Vincent and Richardson shared in a 231-run opening stand, beating the previous New Zealand record against India of 222 for the third wicket between Bert Sutcliffe and John Reid in New Delhi in 1955-56. Vincent brought up his century by sweeping Kumble for a four to square-leg but was out lbw while trying a repeat shot 10 overs before the close. Richardson, who was struggling with cramp in the latter part of his knock, brought up his third test hundred with an edged four to third man off Kumble. India are being led by Rahul Dravid in the absence of Saurav Ganguly, who has a groin injury. The first test in Ahmedabad ended in a draw last week.
