Lippi faces tricky choice after Di Vaio double

TURIN, Italy (Reuters) - Marco Di Vaio scored twice for Juventus in their 4-2 Champions League win over Real Sociedad on Tuesday but said he was well aware he could be back on the substitutes bench again soon.

Di Vaio, standing in for the injured Alessandro Del Piero, was impressive alongside Frenchman David Trezeguet, who also scored twice in a convincing win for Marcello Lippi's side which left them three points clear of Sociedad at the top of group D.

"Squad rotation is part of the game now and it involves everyone here," Di Vaio said.

Despite Del Piero's continued absence with a calf injury, Lippi now faces a tricky choice over who to play in attack against Brescia in Serie A on Sunday.

Fabrizio Miccoli, left on the bench against the Spaniards, scored twice in last Saturday's 3-2 win over Ancona and with all three forwards in prolific form someone is bound to be disappointed.

"The fact that Miccoli and Di Vaio can come in and score two goals is a very positive thing," said Lippi.

"Now you will say that I can't leave out someone who scored twice but I am going to have to do that," added the Juve coach.

LONG ROAD

Lippi has rotated his squad this season and chose to leave Dutch midfielder Edgar Davids and Uruguay defender Paolo Montero on the bench against Sociedad but he said that such decisions were not causing friction.

"Almost all the players feel involved in the team and in our work," said Lippi.

Di Vaio said he accepted that despite his match-winning display, which follows his recent goal for Italy against Azerbaijan, he may be left out again.

"There is a lot to do yet in this season, a lot we can win and we haven't achieved anything yet," said the former Parma striker.

"Scoring goals makes you feel good though, it makes me feel a little calmer but I still have hunger. I always have hunger because you never tire of scoring.

"It is a long road. I need to work a lot, to show a lot more yet. But when the goals are going in that helps your confidence," he said.

Real coach Raynald Denoueix said his side were always going to struggle after going 2-0 down within seven minutes of the start.

"I think in that situation there was only a little hope and we were already in a difficult position so early but we tried to do what we could," he said.
