PHF assures Australia of fool-proof security for Champions Trophy
Karachi, Sept. 6(ANI): The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has said that it will make proper security arrangements for the six-nation Champions Trophy scheduled to take place at Lahore in December. According to The News, Olympics 2004 gold medallist Australia and New Zealand had both said that they would pull out of the prestigious event if proper security arrangements were not in place. "There are no security problems in Pakistan and, through the International Hockey Federation (FIH), we have assured a foolproof security arrangement for all the foreign teams," the paper quoted (PHF) Secretary Brigadier Musaratullah Khan as saying. Australia Hockey CEO Lyndon Adamson has reportedly asked Pakistan to furnish the details of its security plans after some of the team members voiced their apprehensions over the security to be provided during the December 4-12 tournament. However, PHF officials are optimistic that Australia would ultimately participate in the tournament. "I think it's a negative advice from the Australian Government. Australian players have played squash in Pakistan recently and their polo team is already here so why there are fears for hockey players," Musaratullah added. (ANI)
