Ex-PCB treasurer alleges 2.3 crore Indo-Pak cricket series scam

Lahore, Sept 6 (ANI): Former PCB treasurer Muhammad Naeem has asked the Pakistan government to conduct an inquiry into what he alleged were glaring irregularities during this year's Indo-Pak series.

Blaming PCB chief Shahryar Khan for violating the official authority vested in him by the Board's patron, President Pervez Musharraf, The Nation quoted Naeem as saying that the government should probe the alleged bungling by the PCB.

He also dismissed Shaharyar's claims that the audit report of the tickets sold during the series will be made public. "I believe that the PCB has no record of tickets amounting Rs. seven million. Let them come out in the open, and if the Board tries to brush the issue under carpet, then I will reveal the names of the tickets beneficiaries," he said.

He further alleged that one of the contractors gave tickets worth Rs.16 million to the PCB officials and there was no record of this transaction in the board's files.

"The PCB is a public institution and just audit of contracts won't work and should be investigated by an independent body so that the people should know the facts," he added. (ANI)
