WELLINGTON (Reuters) - Stephen Fleming will return to captain New Zealand in the next one-day international against Sri Lanka, New Zealand Cricket said on Wednesday.
Fleming missed the first three games in the series as part of a rotational policy designed to help preparations for the World Cup in March.
Veteran batsman Craig McMillan and spinner Jeetan Patel also return, with Nathan Astle and James Marshall dropped.
"With the continued use of Brendon McCullum at the top of the order, it is now necessary to introduce a player who can provide a powerful finish to the innings and we are looking to Craig to provide that," New Zealand coach John Bracewell said.
The next match of the series is in Auckland on Jan 6. New Zealand has a 2-1 lead in the five-match series.
New Zealand squad:
Stephen Fleming (capt), Andre Adams, Shane Bond, James Franklin, Peter Fulton, Mark Gillespie, Hamish Marshall, Michael Mason, Brendon McCullum, Craig McMillan, Jeetan Patel, Ross Taylor, Daniel Vettori.
