SYDNEY (Reuters) - Adam Gilchrist was out for 62 as Australia reached 318-7 in the opening session on the third day of the final Ashes test against England on Thursday.
Shane Warne, unbeaten on 38, was joined by Brett Lee.
Mike Hussey, on 37, edged seamer James Anderson to wicketkeeper Chris Read in the day's second over and Andrew Symonds was bowled by spinner Monty Panesar for 48.
England made 291 in their first innings.

*Hussey nicks Anderson's second delivery to Read who takes a good catch. 190-5.
*Panesar bowls Symonds as he attempts a big hit to bring up his fifty. 260-6.
*Warne edges his first ball for four and smashes the second over midwicket for six.
*Gilchrist nudges Panesar into the covers for a single to reach his fifty.
*Gilchrist chases a wide ball from Anderson and is adjudged to have edged it through to Read. 318-7.
