Kingston (Jamaica), April 23 (IANS) Indian batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni slipped two places to the eighth spot while West Indian Ramnaresh Sarwan, after a superb performance in the World Cup, jumped 10 places to the sixth spot in the latest one-day batsman's rankings released by the International Cricket Council (ICC).
England's Kevin Pietersen is still the No.1 batsman in the list with 827 rating points and is followed by Australian captain Ricky Ponting in the second place with 804 points.
Indian captain Rahul Dravid (709) slipped one place to the 14th spot while Yuvraj Singh (687) also slipped two places and is ranked 19th.
Of the top 10 batsmen, Pietersen, Sarwan (746) and Dhoni (739) will not be in St Lucia or Jamaica Tuesday and Wednesday for the penultimate stage of the competition.
Sri Lanka opener Sanath Jayasuriya has moved up to third position with 769 points, following his run of good form.
Australia holds the advantage in the batting department with four players currently featuring in the top 10. Mike Hussey is in the fourth place with 766 points while Matthew Haden is seventh with 743 points and Andrew Symonds (720) is tenth.
For Hayden, it was a move of one place to seventh spot. He is enjoying his highest one-day rating for nearly three years following his third century of the World Cup against New Zealand.
There is an interesting symmetry in the bowlers' ranking with each of the four teams left in the tournament represented by two players in the top eight. Indeed, each side has a bowler in the top four and another in the fifth to eighth spot.
South Africa's Shaun Pollock (900 rating points) is still way out in front and New Zealander Shane Bond, who is ranked second with 807 points, is slowly catching him. Australian Nathan Bracken (784) is third while his teammate Glenn McGrath is at fifth spot with 765 points.
