KINGSTON, Jamaica (Reuters) - Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat against New Zealand in the first World Cup semi-final on Tuesday.
Sri Lanka welcomed back paceman Lasith Malinga, who missed the last three Super Eights matches with an ankle injury, while seamer Dilhara Fernando was preferred to Farveez Maharoof.
New Zealand included fast bowler Shane Bond after a stomach complaint forced him to miss Friday's crushing 215-run defeat by Australia. All-rounder Jacob Oram also returned after shaking off a heel problem.
Kiwi spinner Jeetan Patel kept his place.
