Mirpur (Bangladesh), May 12 (ANI): India beat Bangladesh by 46 runs in the second one-day international between the two sides at Mirpur on Saturday, thanks to a brilliant 101 by opener Gautam Gambhir and a telling bowling spell by emerging leg-spinner Piyush Chawla.
India scored 284 for 8, and in reply, Bangladesh scored 238 for 9. For Bangladesh, Mashrafe Mortaza scored 42, while Aftab Ahmed scored 40. Piyush Chawla took three wickets for 37. Gambhir's second one-day century and Chawla's three-wicket debut were the highlights of the match reduced to 49 overs a side by early-morning drizzle.
Earlier, India's top order put in an improved performance in sweltering heat in the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium.
Bangladesh was guilty of frittering away opportunities during the course of the Indian innings, allowing the visitors to clinch the three-match series witha scoreline of 2-0. (ANI)
