BCCI to advertise for new coach

Wednesday August 8, 06:00 PM

NEW DELHI (Reuters) - India's cricket board decided on Wednesday to advertise for a new national coach after its informal attempts ended in failure.

India have been without a coach since Australia's Greg Chappell quit in April following the team's first round exit at this year's World Cup.

Former South Africa coach Graham Ford declined to take up the post after the board had interviewed him and said he would succeed Chappell.

A spokesman said on Wednesday the board hoped to appoint a new coach after next month's Twenty20 World Cup in South Africa.

Current junior coach Lalchand Rajput would stand in as cricket manager for the tournament.
