Beijing, Sep 28 (Xinhua) China's Xinhua news agency launched the Beijing Olympics News Service (BONS) on a trial basis Friday to enhance its English language coverage of events and preparations for the 2008 Games in the Chinese capital. The multimedia news service will start formal operation Oct 8 and end Oct 8, 2008.
In the run-up to the Beijing Games, the BONS will focus on the preparatory work of the host country and international athletes. It will also present China to the world, including its reform, opening-up and modernisation process as well as Chinese culture.
After the opening of the Games in August 2008, the focus of the BONS will shift to the actual events: the athletes, results, feedback from the participating countries and regions, and Olympics-related information.
BONS will provide text, photos and graphics.
