Gloster resigns from Team India job

New Delhi, Feb 14 (IANS) The Indian cricket team will have a new physiotherapist before the home series against South Africa starting next month. This follows the resignation of Australian John Gloster, who put in his papers citing personal reasons, the Indian Cricket Board said Thursday.

Gloster sent his resignation to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Wednesday and in it he mentioned he would not like to renew his contract with the BCCI. The contract ends after the on-going Commonwealth Bank tri-series in Australia.

'He (Gloster) has resigned because he didn't want to continue on personal grounds, but he will be with the team till the end of the series,' BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah told IANS.

The secretary confirmed that the team would have a new physio before the home series against South Africa.

'A new process to find his successor will start soon and we will have a new physio before the start of the SA series,' said Shah.

Gloster joined the Indian team in Feb 2005 replacing fellow Australian Andrew Leipus. Before the India assignment, he has worked with the Bangladesh cricket team for four years.

He was recently under fire for the way he handled the injuries of Zaheer Khan, Munaf Patel, Rudra Pratap Singh and Yuvraj Singh.
