Mumbai, March 22: Shoaib Malik’s Indian lawyer has sent a notice to Hyderabad’s M.A. Siddiqui and his family, who claim that their daughter was married to the Pakistan skipper.
Delhi high court lawyer Ramesh Gupta said on the phone, "I sent a letter of notice to the family on Thursday evening asking them to desist and withdraw their claims, and apologise to my client. If they don’t, a case of defamation can be filed against them."
The Siddiqui family has been claiming that their daughter Ayesha married Malik on June 3, 2002 in the presence of few friends and family members of either side in an internet chat. "Even if they did, it is not legally binding on my client part. I have consulted a few priests and obtained documents from them which also substantiate our claims of marraige over internet being invalid."
"Shoaib was shown the photograph of some other girl by her parents and therefore this case," the lawyer added.
