Miami (Florida), March 25 (IANS) India's Sania Mirza will start her campaign against wildcard Sabine Lisicki of Germany in the $2.1 million Sony Ericsson Open tennis tournament starting here Wednesday. Sania, seeded 29th in the Tier I Women's Tennis Association (WTA) event, has been handed a bye, along with other seeds, in the opening round.
If Sania, ranked 31 in the world, gets past Lisicki in the second round she might run into fifth seed and world No. 6 Anna Chakvetadze of Russia in the next.
However, the 21-year-old Hyderabadi first will have to tackle a wrist injury that troubled her during the pre-quarterfinals of the Pacific Life Open last week. Then she would have to thwart off the challenge of wildcard holder Lisicki, who had upset world No. 13 Dinara Safina in the Australian Open and world no. 33 Lindsay Davenport in the Federation Cup.
