Target to restrict S Africa to 375: Harbhajan

Chennai, Mar 26 (PTI) The task will be arduous but off-spinner Harbhajan Singh believes he and his bowling colleagues can still restrict the rampant South Africans to 375 in their first innings tomorrow.

The never-say-die tweaker did not sound bogged down even after South Africa finished day one at 304 for four and according to him, the primary target of the hosts is to get two early wickets tomorrow, which would expose the visitors' tail.

"Chennai wicket is always like this, good for batsmen in the first two days. You cannot be complaining about it. We will try to get them out within another 80 runs. That is our target.

"We have to get just two more wickets and then the tail will start. If we do that, we are in the game. If we restrict them to less than 375, it will be a great effort on our part," said the off-spinner, who finished the day with two wickets against his name.

Dwelling on the unresponsive track, Harbhajan said, "The wicket is very flat. It is difficult to bowl. In the first session, we gave a lot of boundaries in the first 10 overs.

"First session is always important in Test cricket. They dominated the session but we did very well in the last two sessions today," he said.

"Tomorrow will be a different story. It is just a matter of a few good deliveries and the match will turn. If we contain the boundaries tomorrow, it will be difficult for the batsmen," Harbhajan said.
