JAKARTA (Reuters) - Holders China moved smoothly into the semi-finals of the Thomas Cup on Wednesday with a 3-0 quarter-final victory over Thailand. They next meet Malaysia, comfortable 3-0 winners over Japan. The Chinese, seeking a third Thomas Cup title in a row and seventh in all, fielded their strongest team, headed by world champion Lin Dan who eased past Boonsak Ponsana 21-15 21-14. After a Chinese victory in the doubles, world ranked three Bao Chunlai clinched the tie with a 21-14 21-11 success over Poompat Sapkulchananart. In other quarter-finals later in the day hosts Indonesia were playing England and South Korea were up against Denmark. The Chinese women, seeking a sixth Uber Cup crown in succession, were facing the Netherlands.
