Bhupathi-Bopanna eliminated at Artois tennis

London, June 14 (IANS) Eighth seed Mahesh Bhupathi and Rohan Bopanna of India were eliminated in the quarterfinals of the Artois championship tennis tournament after they lost to second seed Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonzic.

Bhupathi and Bopanna squandered five breakpoints in the first set and two in the second and lost 4-6, 4-6 Friday night.

Nestor and Zimonjic improved to 24-11 win-loss record in the season. They will attempt to reach their fourth straight final when they take on No. 7 seeds Frantisek Cermak and Jordan Kerr in the semifinals. Cermak and Kerr surprised No. 3 seeds Jonas Bjorkman and Kevin Ullyett 6-3, 6-4.

No. 6 seeds Jamie Murray and Max Mirnyi won their second straight three-sets match as they beat the unseeded American duo of Eric Butorac and Rajeev Ram 7-6(7), 4-6, 10-3.

Murray and Mirnyi will be appearing in their third ATP semi-final of the year including the title in Delray Beach in February. They will face fifth seeded Marcelo Melo and Andre Sa of Brazil in the semi-finals.
