Chennai cheers for Hyderabad girls
Chennai loves a good game of cricket, it always has, and it probably always will. The IPL has witnessed great turnouts at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium, and despite all the 'value-adds' that T20 has to offer, the focus in this city has very much been on the cricket. Well, that was till Tuesday, that is.
On Tuesday, the attention was well and truly divided. And giving the action in the middle a good run for its money were the cheerleaders from Hyderabad. On the eve of the match too, a lot of talk around the stadium was about the Aussie girls who form the cheerleading team for Hyderabad.
Everyone wanted to catch a glimpse of the beauties and a lot of the stadium actually filled up well before the game was scheduled to start. "Apart from the cricket, we have also come to watch the off-field action," a youngster said rather cheekily.
"Hyderabad undoubtedly have the most attractive cheergirls and we did not want to miss a moment of their performance," he added. The older people in the crowd, however, did not look too amused by the girls' jig - for every smile, there were two scowls!
Drumming it loud!
If there is anyone who can give M.S. Dhoni competition as the Most Popular Man in Chennai, it has to be drummer Sivamani. Performing before, and during, every home game at his hometown, Sivamani has the crowd in a trance with his breathtaking skill on the drums. On Tuesday, Sivamani's drums were probably the only things the crowd enjoyed while their heroes let them down yet again.
