The home of British Motor Sport, Silverstone hosted the first-ever round of the World Championship in 1950 and is one of the only two circuits to have hosted a championship race consistently, ever since.

Revisions to the circuit and several enhanced safety features have made racing at Silverstone even more interesting.

Alain Prost has been the most successful driver on the circuit, with 5 wins to his credit.

Amongst drivers on the current grid, Coulthard is the only one to have won this race more than once. Alonso (2006) and Barrichello (2003) are the other two drivers to have won here before.
