| The Gilles Villeneuve Circuit, named after Canada's favourite racing driver, who was tragically killed during practice for the 1982 Belgian Grand Prix, is in Montreal in the predominantly French spoken State of Quebec. The circuit will stage its 29th Grand Prix as Round 6 of the Formula 1 World Championship, 2007. The circuit is part-permanent and a partly converted street circuit. It has a fair mixture of slow and fast corners, also featuring some very quick straights. Although, a bit hard on the cars, the Canadian Grand Prix weekend is enjoyed by both teams and drivers. Alonso raced to victory in the 2006 edition of the event while Raikkonen was a race-winner the year before. |
