Mello

A character in his teens, he is 'cheeky and curious' and socially aware like the youth of today. That's the mascot of the 2007 Cricket World Cup.

After much research and discussion, it was decided that the character needs to be vibrant and human. Moreover, it needed to be something that embodied the Caribbean and all the islands in the region that would be part of the event. Challenging as the task was, the result is a young character that supports the ICC/UNAIDS awareness program about HIV/AIDS and embodies the way of life in the Caribbean.

Dressed in casuals in a white vest, blue shirt, comfortable pants and a pair of casual shoes, Mello represents a zest for life, a life philosophy and the warmth of the people of the Caribbean. The name of the character was arrived at after much world play and discussions with local people and focus groups.

Taking over the baton from 'Dazzler', the 2003 mascot, Mello will be seen at all venues running on to the ground and keying the crowds on to support their teams and the game.

Hello, Mello!
